Obituary of C. Ione McCarty

Sedan - C. Ione McCarty, age 98 of Sedan, Kansas passed away peacefully, Monday, May 21, 2007 at the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home in Sedan, Kansas. She was born November 21, 1908 on the Emmett Obenchain Farm in the Floyd School district near Wauneta, Kansas to Claude and C. Geneva (Alan) Myers. She attended and graduated from Sedan High School in 1928. She married George F. McCarty on November 5, 1930 in Rogers, Kansas, which is located in rural Sedan. She worked as an Administrator for fifteen years at the Teague Nursing Home in Sedan. After her retirement, she worked as a home healthcare provider. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Sedan and the Red Cross Blood Drive. She is survived by one son, Danny Eugene Myers of Joshua, Texas; one daughter, Jeanette Kay Myers of Sedan, Kansas; one brother, Wylie Myers of Sedan, Kansas and one sister, Joyce Mattox of Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Wayland Myers and one sister, June. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home of Sedan, Kansas. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 25, 2007 at the Ackarman Chapel in Sedan, Kansas with Joe Thomas of the Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Red Cross Blood Drive of Sedan and these remembrances may be left in care of the funeral home.
