Obituary of Linnie Franklin Riley, Jr.

Linnie "Frank" Franklin Riley, Jr., 73, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away from heart complications on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Frank was born on November 8, 1944 in rural Welch, Oklahoma to Frank and Nadine (Pierce) Riley, Sr. Frank grew up in Coffeyville where he graduated high school at Field Kindley Memorial High and attended classes at Coffeyville Community College. He worked for seventeen years as a Firefighter for the Coffeyville Fire Department earning the rank of Captain. On his days off he worked for various trucking company hauling freight. On November 7, 1976 he married Charlotte Robinett in Neodesha, Kansas. The couple made their home in Coffeyville, Kansas. In 1980 Frank and Charlotte helped establish Riley's Repair with Frank Sr. and Nadine. In 1985 it became incorporated and the business became Riley's Inc. In 1989 Frank and Charlotte purchased the shop on Walnut Street and bought out Frank Sr. and Nadine so Frank Sr. could semi-retire. In 2013 Frank and Charlotte sold Riley's Inc. and retired to enjoy life and the peace and quiet. In his youth Frank enjoyed playing tennis and baseball and as an adult he was active in the men's softball league during the summers. As a short time hobby he enjoyed having horses for a few years; during that time he participated in saddle club and old timer rodeos. Frank is survived by his wife of 41 years, Charlotte Riley of the home; three children from a previous marriage, Linnie F. Riley III and wife, Tracy, Beverly D. Riley, Richard E. Riley; and son, Kevin D. Riley and wife, Cooky; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Nadine Riley, Sr. Following Frank's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled. Frank has touched many lives and will be fondly remembered by many. The family would like to make a request to allow them the time to mourn his passing in private. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
