Obituary of Jeremy A. Dodson

Jeremy A. Dodson, 42, of rural Liberty, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born on December 30, 1975 in Coffeyville to John and Mary (Rife) Dodson. Jeremy grew up in and attended school in the South Coffeyville, Oklahoma area, graduating from Oklahoma Union High School. He attended Coffeyville Community College where he was a member of the baseball team and meats judging team. He attended Ozark Christian College and then completed his education receiving a Bachelor's Degree from Friends University. On March 1, 1997, Jeremy married Cheri O'Brien at Tyro Christian Church. They made their home in rural Liberty where they enjoyed raising cattle together. They were heavily involved with Montgomery County 4-H and any other activities that their three children participated in, especially the Cherryvale High School Wrestling program. Jeremy enjoyed hunting, caring for his cattle, was an avid baseball fan, and had mean cooking skills. His greatest love was spending time with his children and their friends. Jeremy was employed as Factory Machining Supervisor at John Deere Coffeyville Works. He was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church. He volunteered his time in many areas including: Montgomery County 4-H Board, 4-H Meat Judging Team Coach, 4-H Shooting Sports Archery Instructor, Little League Baseball Coach, Kids Club Wrestling Coach, served as Liberty Township Clerk, and volunteered for the Liberty Fire Department. Jeremy leaves behind his wife, Cheri; sons, Colben and Cord; and daughter, Cammie, all of the home. Other survivors include his parents John and Mary Dodson of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; sister, Janice Littlepage and her husband, Matt, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; and numerous other friends and relatives. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2018 at the Independence First Church of the Nazarene, 3167 South 10th St., Independence, KS with Pastor Bill Booe of the Liberty United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery northwest of Coffeyville. In true Jeremy fashion, casual attire is expected; jeans are acceptable. Friends may call on Thursday, October 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Liberty United Methodist Church, 4th and Main St., Liberty, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Dodson Children Education Fund established at Community National Bank; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
