Obituary of Patricia M. Miesner

Patricia M. Miesner passed away Friday, December 14th, 2018, at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas. Pat was born May 25th, 1932 in Dunbar, West Virginia to Oakley Earl Taylor and Ella Mae (Raines) Taylor. She was the 5th in a family of 11 children. Pat's family had moved to Dustin, Oklahoma and in 1948 she moved to Caney, Kansas to live with one of her older brothers and his family. While in Caney, she worked at the bus stop soda fountain. In 1950, Pat was set up on a blind date with a Coffeyville boy who turned out to be the love of her life and married him on May 5th, 1950. Together, Pat and Gene had three sons and one daughter. She loved her family more than anything else and enjoyed getting together with her sisters and brothers and her Miesner family. Pat always made her kids a priority when they were growing up, and continued to do so with her grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids. When her children were a little older, Pat worked outside the home at Old Parker Bait and Tackle tying flies, Whitten's Flower Shop which became Cooper's Flowers, George's Cafeteria, McDonald's, and then cooked for Meals on Wheels at the Senior Services Center in Coffeyville. Pat was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Surviving to honor Pat's memory are sons, Ron Miesner and wife, Mary of Independence, Kansas, Phil Miesner and wife, Cyndi of Rockwall, Texas, Tom Miesner and wife, Patti of Coffeyville, Kansas; daughter, Sheri Miesner Pomeroy and husband, Patrick of Independence, Kansas; grandchildren, Aaron Miesner and wife, Erin, Josh Miesner and wife, Mary, Kim Wilson, Kristi Wilson, Jake Miesner, Ryan Miesner and wife, Krystal, Melody Brister, John Brister, Jill Jones and husband, Spencer, Kyle Miesner and wife, Linda, Kate Foster and husband, Bill, Kelly Hanna, Kristi McQuary and husband, Tommy, Anne Welch and husband, Wade; twenty-nine great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren; one brother, Donnie Taylor and wife, Joyce of Nampa, Idaho; and sisters, Francis McPike of Davenport, Iowa, and Myrtle Flanders of Coffeyville, Kansas. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, her parents, Oakie and Ella Mae, daughter-in-law, Linda Miesner; granddaughter, Tiffany Arizmendi; granddaughter-in-law, Maggie Miesner; great grandchildren, Bo Miesner, Lance Miesner, Dakota Miesner and Joshua Michael Miesner; brothers, Jim Taylor, Earl Taylor, Merriel Taylor, and Paul and wife, Jane Taylor; sisters, Nancy Maddox and husband, Kenneth, Alma Sue Lee and husband, Ernest, Betty Werschky and husband, Wayne, and Lucille Miesner. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 18th, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Coffeyville. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville. Friends may sign the guest register on Monday, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions which can be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Coffeyville, or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice of Coffeyville; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
