Alfred Eugene Hoskins, age 83, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Thursday, May 17, 2007 at the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home in Sedan, Kansas.
He was born January 16, 1924 in Elgin, Kansas to Charles Edward and Bertha (McLaughlin) Hoskins. He attended Elgin School until the eighth grade. He served in the United States Army in World War II from January 15, 1944 until March 14, 1945. He worked as an auto mechanic and later worked in the Maintenance Department at the Sedan City Hospital.
He married Mary Alice Puckett on May 15, 1958 in Sedan, Kansas, where they made their home until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Hoskins of the home in Sedan, Kansas; two sons, Bruce Hoskins and his wife LaVerne of Houston, Texas and Glenn Hoskins and his wife Veronica of Baytown, Texas; one daughter, Freida Wells and her husband Leon of Grenola, Kansas; one brother, Clarence Hoskins of Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Deloris Apel and her husband Paul of Sedan, Kansas; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, May 20, 2007 with the family receiving friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Monday, May 21, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home of Sedan, Kansas.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 21, 2007 at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Grenola, Kansas with Chaplain Mike Graham officiating.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and these remembrances may be left in care of the funeral home.
