Obituary of Marsha D. Rodriguez

Marsha Darlene (Swafford) Rodriguez, 69, of Coffeyville passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Medicalodge of Coffeyville. She was born on August 26, 1949 at Parsons to Thomas and Edith (Marsh) Swafford. Marsha grew up in the Parsons area where she attended school graduating from Labette Community High School in Altamont, she completed the CNA program at Labette Community College in Parsons and later completed the EMT program at Coffeyville Community College. On August 2, 1969 she married the love of her life, Eliseo "Lee" Rodriguez in Independence. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their four daughters. Her husband preceded her in death on January 27, 2016. She worked at the Parsons State Hospital, several nursing homes, was an EMT, worked at a dispatcher and guard at the jail, and was manager at a convenience store. Marsha was a dedicated worker always trying to help her family. Marsha was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, Holy Name Altar Society and was involved in several organizations at the Church. She was an avid couponer, enjoyed crocheting and loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving to honor her memory is her daughters, Mardella (Michael) Swigart of Seligman, Missouri, Elisia Rodriguez of Kansas City, Kansas, Laura (Patrick) McWhirt of Springfield, Missouri, Judith Rodriguez of Coffeyville; two brothers, Daniel Swafford and Mark (Mia) Swafford both of Parsons eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Raymond Swafford, a son James, a grandson Donovahn and a granddaughter Laci. A Rosary Service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to immediately follow with Father Daniel Lorimer officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will greet friends Friday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
