Obituary of Kathryn Sue Thomas
Kathryn Sue Thomas, 72, of Coffeyville passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Windsor Place.
She was born on January 7, 1946 at Kansas City, Missouri to Phil and Genevieve (Richardson) Blakey. Kathryn grew up and attended school in the Kansas City area graduating from Shawnee Mission High School. Following high school she attended the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO, Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS, Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL and Canon Bible College in Orlando, FL.
On April 22, 2000 he married Paul Thomas at Overland Park, KS.
Kathryn was an Ordained Minister, and received an Honorary Doctorate Degree. She served as a missionary in Jamaica for one year and an Indian Reservation in Arizona for five years. She also served as Chaplain at a hospital in New Mexico and later at Minidoka Hospital in Idaho. Kathryn also was a foster parent to 87 children over the years.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Coffeyville, the American Association of Christian Counselors. She was also a NRA rifle instructor and an aerobics instructor.
Survivors include her husband, Paul of the home; three sons, Michael Vore of Tulsa, OK, Charles Vore of Altamont, KS and John Vore of Oswego, KS; one step-daughter, Kira Lillie of Raytown, MO; one sister, Carol Rotach of Kansas City, MO; and seven grandchildren.
A Memorial Service celebrating Kathryn's life will be at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the First Assembly of God in Coffeyville with Pastor Randy DePriest officiating. Follow Kathryn's wishes cremation has taken place.
