Terry "Gene" Monroe II, age 51, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at the OSU Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He was born March 1, 1956 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Terry G. and Lela (Hobbs) Monroe. He grew up in Elk City, Kansas. He graduated from Independence High School in Independence, Kansas. He then attended Northwestern Oklahoma State where he received his Bachelor's Degree. He also attended University of Oklahoma where he received his Master's Degree. He received his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Tulsa. He was part owner of the Lang-James-Maple-Monroe law firm in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
He married Fredda Perry on June 16, 1990 in Sedan, Kansas. After their marriage, they lived in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, where they resided until his death.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also loved OU football, writing cowboy poetry and working.
He is survived by his father, Terry G. Monroe of rural Elk City, Kansas; his wife, Fredda Monroe of the home in Sand Springs, Tulsa; one goddaughter, Erin Connelly of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Dave Monroe and his wife Debbie of rural Elk City, Kansas; one sister, Marty Hutton-Persinger of Sedan, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lela Monroe.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until service time, Monday, May 21, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Sedan, Kansas.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church of Sedan with Reverends Jerry Bever and Dick Bland officiating. Interment will follow at the Hale Cemetery in rural Elk City, Kansas.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Humane Society and these remembrances may be left in care of the funeral home.
