Obituary of Brenda Bea Lind
Brenda Bea Lind, 76, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville.
Brenda was born on February 1, 1943 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Ernest and Inice (Scott) Bever. She grew up in Coffeyville where she graduated high school at Field Kindley. She completed some college courses at Coffeyville Community College. She went on to earn her cosmotology degree from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas.
On August 19, 1961 she was united in marriage to Donald J. Lind in Coffeyville, Kansas. Following their marriage they made their home in Westmoreland, KS where Don taught school at Westmoreland High School for two years before moving to Fredonia where he taught at Fredonia High School. In 1964, they returned to Coffeyville.
Brenda and her mother had their own beauty shop on 11th street in Coffeyville called Nu-Art Beauty Shop. She retired in 1992.
Brenda was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Independence, Kansas. She also volunteered for many years at Holy Name Catholic School. She enjoyed doing church work and visiting with others as well as running errands and shopping.
She is survived by her children, Gregory Lind and wife, Paula of Elmhurst, IL; Lisa Payne and husband, Kendall of Coffeyville, Lori Toms and husband, Michael of Draycott, England, and Kimberlee Smith of Kentucky; six grandchildren; one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Inice Bever and her loving husband, Donald Lind; son-in-law, Steve Smith; brothers, Dr. Grant Bever and Hulen Bever.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February, 15, 2019 at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will greet friends Thursday evening at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Hospice, LDS Independence Ward, or to Holy Name Catholic School; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David. W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
