Naomi Lee Lumley, age 77, of Caney, Kansas, formerly of rural Peru, Kansas, died Monday, May 14, 2007 at the Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan, Kansas.
She was born February 1, 1930 in Stella, Missouri to Robert and Zelma (Cox) Deal. She attended school in Caney and Peru, graduating from the Peru High School as the Salutatorian in her class. She married Ivan Lumley on May 20, 1947 in Caney, Kansas. They were married almost sixty years. They lived in the rural Niotaze area before moving to Caney where they have lived for the past few years.
She attended the First Christian Church of Caney, she taught quilting classes in Sedan and Caney, she enjoyed woodworking, raising American Eskimo dogs, and she also taught herself how to play many instruments, and most of all she loved her kids.
She is survived by her father, Robert Deal of Caney, Kansas, her husband, Ivan Lumley of the home in Caney; four sons, Larry and his wife Kay Lumley of Springfield, Missouri, Richard and his wife Laura B. Lumley of Peru, Kansas, Daniel and his wife Laura M. Lumley of Owasso, Oklahoma and Dennis Lumley of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one daughter Nancy Jones of Sunnyvale, California; two brothers, David Deal, Sr. of Caney, Kansas and Dick Deal of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Fern Horst of Caney, Kansas; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Zelma.
Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2007 and from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., Friday, May 18, 2007 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the First Christian Church of Caney with Pastor Brad Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Niotaze, Kansas.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the First Christian Church of Caney and these remembrances may be left with the funeral home.
