Obituary of Shirley Ruth Busey
Shirley Ruth Busey, 82, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at CRMC in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Shirley was born on December 28, 1936 in Westville, Oklahoma to Virgil and Amy (Templeton) Redden. She grew up in Drumright, Oklahoma where she attended school.
She married Gary L. Busey on June 24, 1955 in Wann, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2015.
Shirley was a member of the South Coffeyville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, gambling and sports. Most of all she loved the time she spent surrounded by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Ronda Muller (Tony); Lana Busey; son-in-law, Thomas Jones all of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Misty Wishall (Tom) of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Nikole Drum (Chris) of Derby, Kansas, Lindsay Batchelder (Jeremy) of Copan, Oklahoma, Breck Muller (Kristina) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Charli, Paige, Gavin "Max", Acie, Brentli, Dawson and Reece; sisters, Virginia Dorsey of Drumright, Oklahoma, Janetta Hynous of Lexington, Kentucky; brother, Virgil Redden of Shasta, California.
In addition to her loving husband Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Amy; son, Gary L. Busey, Jr., daughters, Amy Marie Busey and Gayla Jones.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the South Coffeyville United Methodist Church in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Pastor Furan Jackson will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Following Shirley's wishes, the casket will be closed. Friends may sign the guest register on Friday, March 29, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. The family will receive friends Friday evening starting at 7:00 p.m. at Shirley's house in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma.
The family suggests memorials can be made to the South Coffeyville United Methodist Church, the American Diabetes Association or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; contributions may be left with or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
