Obituary of Alice Mae Maggard

Alice Mae Maggard, 71, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Sedan, Kansas.

Alice was born on November 14, 1947 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Charley Long, Jr. and Ida Mae (Blackmer) Long.  She grew up in Osawatomie, KS where she attended school, later completing her education in Coffeyville.   

On December 22, 1963 she married Winfred “Ray” Maggard in Coffeyville.  After their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville.  In her earlier years, Alice worked numerous jobs helping provide family.

Alice and Ray had one child, Robert Ray Maggard.

She and Ray were members of the First Assembly of God in Coffeyville.  Alice enjoyed doing ceramics along with other arts and crafts.  She loved animals and adored her cat, Sally.  Most of all Alice loved the time she spent with family, friends and her church. 

She is survived by her son, Robert Ray Maggard of Ft. Worth, Texas; sister, Jane Long of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother, Stanley Long and wife, Kim of Tomball, Texas; granddaughter, Brittani Durham and husband, Tony of Spring, Texas; aunt, Elizabeth Johnson of Dearing, Kansas; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley Long, Jr. and Ida Mae Blackmer and her husband, Ray Maggard. 

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Assembly of God in Coffeyville.  Pastor Randy DePriest will officiate.  Burial will follow at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 31, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

Memorial contributions in honor of Alice Maggard may be made to the First Assembly of God or to the Coffeyville Friends of Animals; contributions may be left with or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.

The family thanks both Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan, Kansas and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice for their exceptional care.
