Obituary of John Cecil Wilson
John Cecil “J.C.” Wilson, 78, of Coffeyville, Kansas was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 25, 2019 surrounded by his family at his home.
J.C. was born on September 30, 1940 to Cecil and Sarah (Howser) Wilson in Coffeyville, Kansas. He grew up in Coffeyville and attended local schools. He graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School in 1958. He graduated from Coffeyville Vo-Tech and CCC in 1984.
On August 20, 1961 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Myra Jean Butterfield in Coffeyville, Kansas. The couple made Coffeyville their home.
J.C. worked at several places during his long life. Some of which were Fourth Street Market, Junges Bakery in Coffeyville, Kansas and Joplin, Missouri, Jenson’s Brothers, Eagle Security, Benson Lumber Company, American Insulated Wire, Dixon’s, Bartlett Flour Mill, Pressure Cast and Spears.
He and Jean are members of the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. He enjoyed Camping, Hunting, Fishing, and Tinkering. But most of all he loved the time he spent surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Sarah Wilson; sister, Frances Ann Smith; brother, Joseph Wilson and an unborn great-grandchild.
J.C. is survived by his loving wife, Jean Wilson of the home; sons, John Kevin Wilson of the home, David Allen Wilson of Independence, Kansas; daughters, Patti Jean Hilton and husband, Lawrence of Coffeyville, Kansas; Amanda Jo Wilson of the home; grandchildren, Brian Twitchell and wife, Katie of Coffeyville, Kansas, Kayla Padgett and husband, Nick of Victoria, Texas, Lorraine Wilson , Hilary Wilson both of Parsons, Kansas, Kathleen Hilton and fiancé, Michael of Joplin, Missouri; great grandchildren, Amelia and Logan Twitchell of Coffeyville, Kansas; brother, James Wilson of Victoria, Texas; sister, Betty Jo Clark of Forsyth, Missouri; great grand dogs, Riley and Hope; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville. Pastor John Dixon will officiate. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. the family will greet friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville, Kansas, Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas.
