Vernon H. Conger, Jr. 72, of Coffeyville passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. He was born on January 11, 1947 at Coffeyville to Vernon H. and Wanda Louise (Battagler) Conger, Sr. Vernon grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley High School. On November 24, 1967 he married Shirley Wilson at South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. Vernon was employed at John Deere Coffeyville Works as an Inspector for 43 years retiring in 2009. Vernon was a member of Emmanuel Chapel in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, NRA, and UAW. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, going to auctions and rummage sales, but most of all loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Shirley of the home; one daughter, Lisa Conger of Coffeyville; two sons, Scott Conger of Independence, and Michael Conger of Coffeyville; two brothers, Clarence Conger of Alabama, and Joe Conger of Coffeyville; one sister, Carol Conger of Coffeyville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sister, Betty and Nancy. There will be a gathering of family and friends Friday, September 6, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
