Obituary of Jean Parker

Jean Parker, 92, of Tyro, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at her home. 

She was born on April 16, 1927, at Sycamore, Kansas to Thomas B. and Sadie (Henderson) Clayton. Jean grew up and attended grade school in Sycamore and graduated from Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville.

On June 18, 1947 she married Seth B. Parker at Independence, Kansas. Following their marriage they made their home in Tyro, Kansas where they raised their family.

Jean was a member of Tyro Christian Church in Tyro, and a former Home Demonstration Unit member, and former Cub Scout Leader. She enjoyed reading and loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her sons, Greg Parker of Caney, Kansas, and Mike Parker and wife, June of Claremore, Oklahoma; one sister, Leta Wyler of Portland, Oregon; eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Beverly Parker; and three brothers, Donald Clayton, Melvin Clayton and Glen Clayton.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Tyro Christian Church in Tyro, Kansas.  A private family burial will take place at a later time. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes in Coffeyville, Kansas. 

The family will greet friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Tyro Christian Church in Tyro.

The family suggests memorials can be made to Tyro Christian School; contributions can be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 North Cline, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
