Obituary of Florence R. Chance

Florence R. Chance, 86, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. Florence was born on September 11, 1933 in Lenapah, Oklahoma to Alvie "Doc" and Dolly (Thorpe) Lindesmith. She attended school in Lenapah and in Coffeyville, Kansas where she graduated from Field Kindley High School. On December 23, 1952 she married William J. Chance in San Diego, California. The couple made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their family. William preceded her in death in 2004. Florence worked for Montgomery Ward for several years and then for more than 25 years at First National Bank in Coffeyville until her retirement in 1992. She attended the First Christian Church in Coffeyville. She enjoyed crafts and gardening growing flowers, tomatoes and peppers. She is survived by her son, Harold Chance of Independence, Kansas; daughters, Diana Flanders and husband, Glenn of Dearing, Kansas, Deborah March and husband, Lester of Melissa, Texas; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and her brother, Larry Lindesmith of Coffeyville, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doc and Dolly Lindesmith, loving husband, William (Bill) Chance; brother, John Lindesmith and grandson, Jeromy Flanders. Graveside Services will be held on Monday, September, 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Patio at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Jamie Regis of Dearing Christian Church officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. The family suggests memorials can be made to the Meningitis Association; contributions can be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W.
