Larry J. Hiner, 73, of Coffeyville, KS passed away at home on Thursday, September 26.

Larry was born June 27, 1946 in Wamego, KS to James J. and Mary L (Chase) Hiner. He graduated as Sportsman of the Year in 1964 from Wamego High School, and attended both Northwest Missouri State in Maryville and Coffeyville Community College. He was a Red Raven for more than 50years.

He married his lifelong sweetheart, Judith Tibbetts, in Wamego on August 7, 1966 and she survives in the home. He played football, basketball and ran track in High School and played summer baseball. He was recruited by CCC to play football, and he and Judy chose to make Coffeyville their home. Larry began working for Funk Manufacturing (John Deere, Coffeyville Works) in 1968, where he later retired in 2001.

Larry had numerous interests over the years. Once the days of football ended, he turned to slow pitch softball, golf, and bowling. He served as league secretary of bowling, was inducted into the local bowling State association Hall of Fame and the Kansas Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2007. He served many years on the Kansas Men's Bowling Association Board of Directors, serving as President from 1999-2003. Larry bowled 2 perfect games of 300 in his career and was a regular fixture at Westside Lanes until the time of his death. Larry loved the game of golf and shared his love of the game with Judy and his girls. He recorded 2 holes-in-one – one in 1994 at Great Bend Petroleum Club and one at Coffeyville Country Club in 2009. He spent many years admiring, investing in, and showing off his various classic cars at several car shows. His most recent pride and joy is a 1972 Oldsmobile convertible.

Larry was a member of the First United Methodist Church, US Bowling Congress, Coffeyville Country Club, Bears and Bulls Investment Club, and Dalton Gang Car Club. He was preceded in death by his parents.
