Obituary of Betty Louise Holmburg
Betty L. Holmburg, 88, of Caney, Kansas passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019 at Guest Home Estates in Caney.
Betty was born on November 15, 1930 in Lowe, Kansas to Ira and Ita (Souders) Call. She grew up in Caney where she graduated high school. Over the years, Betty worked as a clerk at a grocery store, she worked at a thrift store and also worked at Kopco.
Betty was united in marriage to Orley "Bud" Simpson. He preceded her in death in December of 1990. On March 28, 1992 she married Arthur Holmburg in Caney, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2012.
Betty attended First Baptist Church but recently had been going to the Assembly of God Church. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles and word search. Most of all she loved the time she spent surrounded by her family and friends.
Surviving to honor her memory is her children, Linda Williamson and husband, Kenneth of Oologah, Oklahoma, Patricia Drum and husband, Kim of Caney, Kansas, Gary Simpson and wife, Pamela of Caney, Kansas, Donald Simpson and wife, Marilyn of Peru, Kansas; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; sisters, Iva Marie Schultz of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Ella Mae Pace of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by parents, Ira and Ita Call; husbands, Bud Simpson and Arthur Holmburg; one grandson, Robert Wayne Simpson; brothers, Robert D. Call and Archie David Call.
A Memorial Service celebrating Betty's life will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the Hope Church Assembly of God in Caney, Kansas. Inurnment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials in Betty's memory to Alzheimer's Research, Light of Hope Ministries, or a local food panty.
Following Betty's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas.
