Mary Louise Mills, 84, of Coffeyville passed away Wednesday (April 18, 2007) at her home.
She was born June 12, 1922 at Liberty, Kansas to John and Johanna "Josie" (Murphy) Sack. She grew up in the Liberty area and attended Coffeyville school graduating from Field Kindley High School and Coffeyville Community College.
On July 26, 1943, she married Gene Mills in San Diego, California where Mr. Mills was serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. While living in California, Mary worked as a payroll clerk at a shipyard. Following his discharge they lived in Concordia, KS while Mr. Mills attended jewelers' school. After completing jewelers' school they returned to Coffeyville. Mrs. Mills was employed at the Coffeyville Journal in the advertising department and as proof reader for 25 years. Mr. Mills preceded her in death in 1978.
Mary was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Altar Society Circle #5, and was active at Holy Name Catholic School for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie (Jr.) Manley of Coffeyville, and Janet (Bob) Farrell of Grand Lake, OK; one son, Randy (Linda) Mills of Pembroke Pines, FL; one brother, Carl Sack of Coffeyville; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one sister, Pauline Starts.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday (April 20, 2007) at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (April 21, 2007) at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery
Friends may call on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
