Obituary of Judi Alexander
Judith Marlene Alexander, 55, of rural Edna, Kansas passed away at her home from her battle with cancer, while surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, September 15, 2019.
Judith or “Judi” as she was known by everyone was born on July 2, 1964, in Bralorne, British Columbia, a small gold mining town, to Lloyd and Judith (Romas) Beach. At a young age, the family moved to Osoyoos, B.C., located in a large valley with a big lake surrounded by mountains. The family then moved to Midway, B.C. where Judi grew up with her five siblings. While living in Midway, Judi fell in love with outdoor activities. She enjoyed snow skiing, tubing on the river, swimming and fishing for trout in the nearby Kettle River. Riding horses, biking and camping in the local mountains was also a source of adventure. Judi had many stories to share of her time in Midway.
Judi graduated from Boundary High School in Midway and then moved to Vancouver where she attended the Canadian Travel College. Upon graduation, she worked for a Canadian travel agency for two and a half years. At that time, Judi began employment with TELUS, the largest telephone company in Canada. She worked as a customer service representative for a couple of years and later moved to the building maintenance department, where she worked an additional nine years. In her time off, Judi enjoyed spending time with her siblings who had also moved to the area as well as her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed bowling, traveling and spending time in the many parks of Vancouver. She had a son, Richard Beach whom she adored and was active in all his upbringings and activities.
On November 26, 2000, Judi married Ron Alexander of Coffeyville, KS on the River Walk in San Antonio, Texas. The couple made their home in Coffeyville.
Soon after moving, Judi began a new career as the store manager of the two Casey’s stores located in Coffeyville. She worked for Casey’s for ten years mostly in Coffeyville, but did help open several other new stores in the area. Judi then went to work as part of the KGGF/KUSN Radio Station family where she spent the last five years as a sales representative.
Judi loved life and she loved living it with Ron. The couple traveled often, many times going back to Canada to visit family and friends. In 2017, they took a week-long trip to Niagara Falls, the National Football Hall of Fame and to Toronto to visit her sister and nieces. They also traveled to Hawaii where they were able to take in the NFL Pro Bowl. Judi loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Vancouver Canucks. She continued her love of outdoor activities after marriage, only now enjoying them with her husband and his family. They went snow skiing a few times in Colorado and during their trips to British Columbia. They also enjoyed water skiing, camping, riding wave runners, boating and horseback riding. Judi loved her cats, dogs, and goats and was always up for playing board games. One new hobby Judi picked up from Ron was riding motorcycles. She was proud to ride her own motorcycle and loved the adventure. Judi also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their many school events, as well as watching them play sports and show cattle and pigs. She was very proud to be able to take her grandkids back to Canada and show them where she grew up and to meet her family. While in Coffeyville she was active in the community and visited with and touched the lives of many. She served on the Coffeyville Chamber Board along with many other community projects. In 2015, the couple moved to Edna, Kansas where they have a beautiful home and land that she loved and enjoyed.
Surviving to cherish her memory is the love of her life, Ron of the home; loving children who adored her, Richard Beach and companion, Jacquie; DeRhonda Newby and husband, David; Ron Alexander and companion, Leah Davidson; grandchildren, Shianne Stuart, Cecillia, Cooper and Colleen Newby and Remington Webre; beloved father, Lloyd Truden; siblings, David Beach, Jane Clarke, David Truden, Lorne Truden and wife, Ramona; brother-in-law, Clint Price; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews along with a town full of friends and associates who will miss her dearly.
