Larry E. Trotter, 82, of Coffeyville passed away surrounded by family Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Larry was born on November 9, 1937 at Coffeyville to to Owen Clifford and Dorothy (Redding) Trotter. He grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley High School in 1955. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as a Navy Corpsman during the Korean War. On January 10, 1959 he married Jacquelyn Mae Sanders at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Missouri where Larry was employed as a Medical Lab Specialist at Miles Laboratories and later at Bayer Laboratories until his retirement. They returned to Coffeyville in 1995. After returning to Coffeyville Larry was employed as City Inspector by the City of Coffeyville and later at Isham Hardware Store. His wife preceded him in death on July 6, 2013. Larry served on the Coffeyville City Commission, serving as Vice-Mayor. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022 and Kiwanis Club. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, fishing, mowing his yard and cooking out, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. Survivors include two sons, Bryan Trotter and wife, Christi of Coffeyville, and David Trotter of California; three granddaughters Natalie Lakey and husband Glenn Lakey of Coffeyville, Nicole Rexwinkle and fiancé Jarrod Lakey of Coffeyville, Brittany Bonnie of Missouri, one grandson Austin Trotter of Coffeyville ; nine great-grandchildren, Breanna Flanders, Addison & Allie Mae Rexwinkle, Payton Bonnie and Mecaela Lakey. Bentley Lakey, Regan Bonnie, Emersyn Lakey, and Gentry Bonnie; two brothers, Robert Trotter and wife, Sharna of Coffeyville, and Dennis Trotter and wife, Linda of Shell Knob, Missouri. A Graveside Memorial Service celebrating Larry's life will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2019 at the Fairview Cemetery Veterans Memorial Patio with Military Honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20. Private family inurnment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may sign the register book on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to the Veterans Memorial Patio in Fairview Cemetery; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
