Irene Butterfield, of Mountain View, AR, formerly of Coffeyville, KS, went to join the angels on Saturday, November 9, 2019. She was 97 years old. She was born on February 21, 1922, in Kansas City, MO, to Perry and Hope McCroskie. Irene married the love of her life, Leon W. Butterfield, Sr. on March 2, 1938. They were married almost 80 years before Leon passed away in February of 2018. During her early years, Irene worked as a homemaker and later worked outside the home as a Kindergarten Teacher's Aide and food-service worker at Roosevelt Middle School. She was an avid Bridge player and actively involved in several organizations including the Order of the Eastern Star and PTA. She served as Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Girls and was a Lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville, KS, and served in several capacities within the church. Irene's many hobbies included traveling, sewing, ceramics, doll collecting, and needlework. She certainly enjoyed her "craft club" of friends.
