Obituary of Joan Eileen Warner-Hough

Joan Eileen (Warner) Hough, D.V.M., 76, lifelong Coffeyville resident and local Veterinarian passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Eileen was born on August 22, 1943 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Wilburt Charley "Buck" Warner and Merze Elaine (Barber) Warner. She grew up and attended school in Coffeyville. She graduated from Field Kindley High School and Coffeyville Community College. She then furthered her education at Kansas State University where she received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine graduating in 1968. She was united in marriage to Ralph McKee, Jr. The couple later divorced. She later married George Hough and they later divorced. In 1979 Eileen opened her own vet clinic on South Walnut Street in Coffeyville known as the Animal Health Clinic. She loved animals and caring for them. She made so many good friends and acquaintances over the years while helping the community in dozens of organizations. In 2017 she retired with the Lifetime Achievement Award from Kansas State Univeristy. Eileen was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Coffeyville where she served as an Elder, Deaconess and Trustee; she also sang in the choir. She had a passion for horses. She raised Quarter Horses on her farm in Labette County. Most of all she loved the time she spent surrounded by her family and friends. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Justin McKee and wife, Angela of Oswego, Kansas, Scarlett Venn and husband, Eddie of Pueblo, Colorado;nine grandchildren; sister, Jeanne Elaine DeMello and brother, Wilburt Charles "Chuck" Warner and wife, Debra all of Coffeyville, Kansas; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Buck and Merze Warner. Following her wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Coffeyville. Pastor Kent A Wagner of Oswego Christian Church will officiate. Please wear red (her favorite) or purple (K State) in celebration of her life. A luncheon will be held shortly after the service in the church basement. Friends may sign the register book on Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
