Jimmy Dale Plute, age 82, of Edna, KS formerly of Coffeyville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 23, 2020 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, KS. Jimmy was born November 17, 1937 in Coffeyville, KS to John Charles Plute and Goldie Pearl (Pierce) Plute. He was a 1956 graduate of Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville. He was employed at Parkersburg Rig & Reel, Sherwin Williams and retired from Cobalt Boats in Neodesha. He was also a farmer; he loved working "God's ground". He was a partner with his younger brother, Willis, in the custom haying business for family and friends. In his younger years, he and his hunting pals trapped animals as a hobby. He loved to farm, race stock cars, and hunt and fish. He and his brother Willis went to Canada several times to fish and enjoy "brother time"! He and Joan Elaine Berry were married July 28, 1957 at Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville, KS. She survives at their home in Edna, KS. When Jim and Joan retired, they moved to Monkey Island, OK where they lived for 10 years then moving to Edna, KS to be near family, be able to farm and enjoy his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an older brother, Doyal Ray Plute and his nephew Stephen Plute. Besides his wife, Joan, other survivors include two daughters, Sherri Lynn Irving (Wyatt) of Stillwater, OK, and Connie Sue Riley (Craig) of Edna, KS, Brother, Willis (Anna Marie) of Coffeyville, grandchildren – Steven (Cortney) Riley of Olathe, KS, Shawna Riley (Desmond Lay) of Coffeyville, KS, Baldwin, Marcus, Christian and Nancy Irving, OK, three great-grandchildren with the fourth one arriving in July 2020, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 27, 2020 at the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church, 416 W. 2nd St. in Coffeyville with Pastor Gary Murrell and Pastor John Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in his name; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
