Norma L. Gentry, 96, of Coffeyville, passed away, Monday, February 17, 2020 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. She was born on January 22, 1924 at Simmons, Missouri to Frank and Ann (Hogan) Bishop. Norma grew up and attended school in the Simmons area and graduated from Houston High School in Houston, Missouri. After completing her education she moved to Springfield, Missouri where she was employed as a seamstress making clothes for the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy. She married Charles Young in 1945 and they had three children, Sharon, Larry and Edward. The couple divorced in 1963. In1964 Norma and her three children moved to Coffeyville and she was employed at ACC in Independence. Norma married R.W. "Bill" Gentry in 1970 at South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. Her husband Bill passed away on February 20, 2020. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include her children, Sharon Allen and husband, John of Hope Mills, NC, Larry Young and Edward Young both of Coffeyville; step-daughter, Jean Lardy of Lakeland, Florida; one sister, Gladine Liner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother, Robert Bishop of St. Louis, Missouri; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Wilburn Bishop, Louis "Pete" Bishop and Jack Bishop; three sisters, Thelma Francis, Edna Pate and Hazel Hendrix; and two great-granddaughters. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the Fairview Cemetery Veterans Memorial Patio with Pastor Dick Smith officiating. Inurnment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Friends may sign the register book on Friday, March 13th from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W.
