Obituary of Anna Mae Hughey

Anna Mae Hughey, 94, of Joplin, Missouri formerly of Coffeyville passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 in Joplin.
Anna was born on December 9, 1925 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Clarence and Anna Alice (Dilley) Cerny. She grew up in Coffeyville where she attended local schools and graduated from Field Kindley High School.
During WWII she worked at the Coffeyville Army Airbase in the Signal Corps. She worked as a customer service representative for Public Finance, First National Bank, and for Dr. Warren Thomas. Anna also was bookkeeper for her husband Gene at National Marketing Company at 8th and Buckeye.
On September 19, 1943 she was united in marriage to Eugene Howard "Gene" Hughey in Coffeyville, Kansas. They made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their two sons. Her husband Gene preceded her in death on May 10, 2013. .
Anna was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Business Professional Women's International, Femancier's Investment Group and Matinee Musicale, a local signing group.
Survivors include her sons, Randall Eugene Hughey and wife, Cyndy of Perry, Oklahoma, Jeffery Allan Hughey and wife, Mary of Joplin, Missouri; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Alice Cerny; father and step-mother, Clarence and Mary "Sue" Cerny; her husband, Eugene "Gene" Hughey; a brother, Clarence Cerny, Jr. and a great granddaughter.
The Funeral Service for Anna Hughey have been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date. Following Anna's wishes cremation will take place and a private family inurnment will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park at a later date.
The family suggests memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church; contributions can be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
