Obituary of Geraldine Marie Howard

Geraldine "Jerry" Marie Howard, entered into rest on Sunday March 22, 2020. She was born January 24th, 1924 in Wichita Ks. to Owen E. Shigley and Ester M. Meyers. She married Dale Duane Howard, March 26, 1942. Jerry was a Key-Punch (Data Entry) operator for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita 1940 – 1945. She saw the first B29 Bomber roll out of the assembly plant in 1943. After WW II, she and dad farmed near the Longton / Elk City, Ks area. In 1953, they purchased a farm near Angola, KS. In the early 60's she worked for the Census Bureau in Parson, KS. While raising her 5 boys in the 50's 60's & 70's she did many supportive things for her family, including helping us with our homework, 4H projects, vacation bible school and also helped the local Meals On Wheels program. In the 1970's Jerry worked as an office manager for Dr. Martin, in Coffeyville, Ks. She was a member of the Medical Assistance Association, the Eastern Star, the United Methodist Church in Angola, Ks and the W.S.C.S. Jerry was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for friends and family. She also enjoyed other crafts, such as making Christmas ornaments, crocheting washcloths, and many other creative things. She adored her house cats and always had one or two, or twenty. LOL When they retired from farming in 1981 they moved to Indian Village, north of Coffeyville. She loved spending time with her family, at their cabin, on Grand Lake. After full retirement her and Dale joined the Good Sam's Camping Club and enjoyed many years traveling and camping. She is survived by her four son's Norman Howard and wife Kristi of Bella Vista, AR; Tom Howard and wife Donna of Caney, Ks; Rick Howard and wife Joanne of Independence, Ks and Jon Howard and wife Susan of Coffeyville, Ks, daughter-in-law Maryjo Howard of Parsons. Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren: Mike Howard and wife Tracy their children Shelby and Abbey; Kassy Howard; Angela (Howard) Barrow her children Colsen, Ayden, Braylen, and Brynlyn; Jason Dantic and wife Becky, their child Melissa; Christopher Howard and wife Holly, their children Maddox, Dylan, and Ryan; Kyle Howard and wife Valerie and their sweet angel baby; Kate (Howard) Bowman and husband Mark; Amber (Howard) McClure and husband Travis their child Amelia; Ashley (Howard) Hersh and husband Elisha their children John and Becky; Nathen Howard She is proceed in death by her parents, her brother Harold E Shigley (Wichita) her husband Dale Duane Howard and two sons; her first son died at child birth in 1944 and her second son Dale Owen Howard passed away in 2003. Unfortunately, because of the Covid-19 virus there will not be a memorial service at this time. Family will have a celebration of life, at a later date.
