Obituary of Dana Eikenberry

Clement Dana Eikenberry, 90, of Edna, KS passed away peacefully on April 8, 2020 at his home. Dana was born on May 31, 1929 in Liberty, KS to Samuel and Ora (Burkett) Eikenberry. His family relocated to the Edna area during World War II. He graduated from Altamont High School in 1947. Dana was a lifelong farmer, past officer in the Farmer's Co-Op, member of the First Christian Church of Coffeyville, and respected community supporter. On July 14, 1956, Dana was united in marriage to Loretta Ruth Gerdes at the First Christian Church in Coffeyville, KS. Ruth preceded him in death on December 19, 2007. Other family members who preceded him in death include his brother Forrest and his sister Fern (Clyde) Ellison. Dana is survived by a nephew, three nieces and their families: Mark Long (Celine) of Oswasso, OK, Dana (Joseph) Bacca of Alameda, CA, Vicki (Frank) Vassallo of Walnut Creek, CA, and Cheryl (Laird) Wilcox, of Olathe, KS. As Dana's health declined the last two years, he was able to continue to live in his home due to the caring support of several attentive neighbors and friends, especially John Reynolds, his wife Glenda, and Glenda's mother Sharon Bozman. Due to Coronavirus concerns and restrictions, no public service is planned at this time. A private graveside service will take place in the Lake Creek Union Cemetery, Bartlett, KS. A memorial celebration of Dana's life is being planned later this year, those plans will be announced when they are finalized Friends may call on Sunday, April 12, from 1:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
