Most of my memories of Bernice include my Mother, Gladys Elsheimer. Bernice and my Mother enjoyed yard sales!!!!!! My Mother and Father, Carl and Gladys Elsheimer had at least one big sale a year on the corner of 5th and Walnut in Coffeyville and Bernice would come before, during, and after the sale (which could last a week)! You could hear Bernice and my Mother laughing from a block away while they were looking over the "good stuff" in the sale. Bernice was always looking for things for her family: clothing, shoes, hats, jeans, and kitchen household things. When Bernice became unable to come to the sales herself, she would telephone my Mother and "pick" out things over the phone and make arrangements for payment and one of her family to pick up the items. Through the phone calls, both women would have many laughs. All of Bernice's family knew of the Elsheimer's and enjoyed that relationship between the two women and still do even to this day. I meet some one of the family and if we recognize each other, we still have some good laughs at these two women's expense. Now both women are together in heaven and will have many laughs together now!
