Obituary of Larry D. Benson

Larry David Benson, 62, of Wann, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Larry was born on January 2, 1958 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Paul and Fern (Floyd) Benson. He grew up in Wann where he graduated from high school in 1977. Larry lived his whole life in rural Wann where he made his way in life as a rancher. He also spent numerous years serving on the Wann, Oklahoma Volunteer Fire Department. On February 17, 2001 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth (Swart) Richardson. The couple later divorced. Larry was a man of strong Christian faith. He worked at Watco for 20+ years. He enjoyed fishing and having a yearly hunting trip in Colorado, talking with family and friends and loved being surrounded by his grandchildren. Surviving to cherish his memory is his companion, Teressa Tickle of the home; children, Marsha Proctor of Talaquah, Oklahoma, Missy Proctor and companion, Joe Templet of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tiffany Richardson and companion, Brandon Hadley of Nowata, Oklahoma, Matt Richardson and wife, Stacy of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Tracey Lovelace and husband, Jake of Wann, Oklahoma, Danielle Bishop and husband, Anthony of Independence, Kansas; eighteen grandchildren; brothers, Bennie Benson of Wann, Oklahoma, Clifford Benson and wife, Debbie of Wann, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Fern Benson; brothers, Ivan, Paul, Lonnie, Tony and Robert Benson; sisters, Doris Yeubanks and Treva Yeubanks. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2020 at the Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. Pastor Jimmy Harrington of Ridin for the Brand Cowboy Church in Wann, OK will officiate. Burial will follow at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at David W Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas.
