Gary Wayne Morris, 63, of Coffeyville, formerly of Lawrence, passed away Tuesday (March 20, 2007) at his home.
He was born February 7, 1944 at Coffeyville to Samuel C. and Evelyn L (Thompson) Morris. He grew up and attended school in Coffeyville and Lawrence, graduating from Lawrence High School.
He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War serving in the U.S. Army, having two tours of duty in Viet Nam.
On January 26, 1973 he married Winnifried Enk at Bad Friedrichshall, Germany.
They where later divorced.
Gary worked and lived in Germany for many years and was employed by Audi Car Company for 20 years. He returned to Coffeyville in April of 1997 and worked at Bartlett Milling Co.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Lawrence and the V.F.W.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Steuerwald of Bad Friedrichshall, Germany; three sons, Martin Morris and Michael Morris both of Bad Friedrichshall, Germany, and Heikel Morris of Costa Rica, South America; one brother, Charles Morris of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister, Sandra Whitehead of Lawrence, KS; one sister-in-law, Judy Morris of Baldwin, KS; a granddaughter, Lara Stewerwald of Bad Friedrichshall, Germany; two nephews, Jerry Morris of Ozawkie, KS, and Darin Hermann of Lawrence, KS; and two nieces, Debra Plumley of Owens, Maryland, and Megan Morris of Lawrence, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother David Morris
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday (March 26, 2007) at Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville with Rev. J.E. Reynolds of the First Christian Church in Coffeyville officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Elliott-Funston-White Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022.
Friends may call on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association; contribution may be left with the funeral home.
