Sylvester Eugene Adair, 62, of Independence passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Montgomery Place in Independence. He was born on February 18, 1958 at Lenapah, Oklahoma to Ulysses Samuel Adair, Sr. and Georgia Marie (Ledman) Adair. Sylvester grew up and attended school in Nowata, Oklahoma. He married Julie Brown they were later divorced. Sylvester lived in the Nowata area for many years until moving to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he lived for 13 years before moving to Independence four years ago. While in Oklahoma City he was employed at Dub Ross Pipe Company. He attended the Old Fashioned Baptist Church in Independence. Sylvester enjoyed music and spending time with his friends. Survivors include one son, Joseph Colbert; three brothers, Windell Adair of Coffeyville, Ulysses Adair, Jr. of Sayer, Oklahoma; five sisters, Vinita White of Coffeyville, Oletha Adair of Wichita, Zabrina Adair of Wichita, Shirley Adair of Coffeyville and Alverta Marshall of Coffeyville; two sisters-in-law, Tyreasa Adair and Giesele Ledman; special friend, Roger Ruland and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Donald Joe Adair, and two sisters, Cora Jean Miller and Donna Reynolds. A Memorial Service celebrating Sylvester's life will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2020 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
