Coffeyville - Marie J. Vaughn-Green, 91, of Coffeyville, passed away Sunday night (March 18, 2007) at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She was born January 31, 1916 at Coffeyville to George and Anna (Andres) Morris. She grew up in Coffeyville and attended first through third grades at Holy Name Catholic School, and fourth through 9th grades at St. Mary's Catholic School in Parsons, returning to Coffeyville and completing her education at Field Kindley High School. On July 20, 1936 she married Raymond E. Vaughn at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville, where they owned and operated Vaughn Service Station, and Marie was bookkeeper. She later worked at Coffeyville Country Club. Mr. Vaughn preceded her in death on December 9, 19976. On May 24, 1982 she married C.P. "Pat" Green at Coffeyville. Mr. Green preceded her in death on May 24, 1992. Marie was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Altar Society, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary were she was Past President and former Chaplain, Fiddlers and Pickers Association where she served as historian, and was an active volunteer with the Cherry Cherokee 4-H Club. Survivors include two sons, George D. Vaughn of Manchester, TN, and Raymond E. "Rocky" Vaughn, Jr. of Coffeyville; one daughter, Vickie Shepley of Lawrence, KS; two brothers, James Morris of Coffeyville and Harold Morris of Atlanta, MO; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Larry Vaughn; infant daughter, Kathleen Vaughn, daughters, Patty Hills and Sue Cuevas; 2 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson; 6 brothers and 1 sister. A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (March 21, 2007) at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (March 22, 2007) at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery Friends may call on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
