Obituary of Rose Marie Knisley

Rose (Rosie) Marie Knisley, 63, left this earth to go be with her Lord and Savior November 11, 2020. She passed away at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, Louisiana with her children by her side. Rose was born in Coffeyville, Kansas to Michael Joseph and Teresa Ann (Walterscheid) Mangan on January 20, 1957. She was raised on a farm north east of Coffeyville, attending school in Coffeyville and Holy Name Catholic Church. She lived most of her life in Coffeyville. A few years ago she moved to Grove, Oklahoma to be near family and last year moved to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi to be with her daughter. As a young girl living on the farm, she helped her father, along with her siblings, taking care of cattle, horses, pigs, chickens, dogs and their pet ducks. Her favorite thing though was helping her mother clean the house, except for taking the books off the (hated) bookshelf and dusting the shelves and each book. After the passing of her mother, she wanted that (hated) bookshelf. On Saturday afternoons she and her sisters would saddle up and ride from the farm to Vaughn's gas station picking up pop bottles along the way to cash in for a nickel a bottle for a candy bar and a bottle of pop. On the way home throwing the pop bottle down to be picked up the following Saturday, Rosie was born with one of the biggest hearts known. Just as Proverbs 31:20 says, "She opens her hand to the poor, and reaches out her hands to the needy", this was Rosie. She was always giving her things to someone that needed it more than her. It didn't matter what it was, she always made sure no one went without. The ole saying about giving the last shirt off your back to someone who needed it more, it was not just a saying to her, she literally would. Even upon her death she was a giver. She was a firm believer in being an organ donor after her granddaughter Haden received a heart at the age of 1 year old. Her eyes are already giving sight to a recipient and are still seeing the beauty of this earth today. She was so full of love and trust for all people. Rosie married David Lochner and to this union two children were born. Michael David, and April Dawn. They were later divorced. She then married CL Knisley and they later divorced. Rosie was a homemaker most of her life. She loved cooking and having cookouts. On Saturdays you could bet you could drive by her house and the smoker was going and the horseshoe pits were clinging. She was a wonderful cook and she very seldom ever followed a recipe, her motto was add everything but the kitchen sink. Her most prized dish for a cookout was her baked beans and her prized Christmas candy was her peanut brittle. No one could make peanut brittle like Rosie. Rosie was also a Breast Cancer Survivor. Living on to share her memory are her children, Michael David Lochner (Melinda) from Coffeyville, Kansas and April Dawn Crowell (Louie) from Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; siblings, Frank (Linda) Mangan of Claremore, Oklahoma, Mary Kay Jontra of Coffeyville, Kansas, Rebecca Castro of Grove, Oklahoma, Regina Uhls of Coffeyville, Kansas; two aunts, Anita Mangan of Coffeyville, Kansas and Joyce Osborne of Quapaw, Oklahoma; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Angel and her brother-in-law, Melvin Jontra. Cremation has taken place under the direction of David W Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Patio at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville. In lieu of flowers Rosie asked that you become an organ donor or donate to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
