James “Jim” S. Hall, age 88, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jim was born on May 10, 1932 in Liberty, Kentucky to Albert and Gracie (King) Hall. He grew up and attended elementary school in Kentucky. The family moved to Coffeyville, Kansas where Jim graduated from Field Kindley High School and Coffeyville Community College. Jim was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserves. After college he worked for about a year as an optician in Hutchinson, Kansas until he was called into active duty with the U.S. Navy. He proudly served his country during the Korean War until receiving his honorable discharge. On December 8, 1951 in Coffeyville, Kansas he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Phyllis Madewell. The couple made Coffeyville their home where they raised their family. They were lifelong members of the Lewark Church of God in Coffeyville. They enjoyed their time spent at church and the wonderful church family they became close with throughout the years. Jim worked for Bunny Bread, North America Rockwell in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Parkersburg, Continental Can, Jensen, and J.C. Pump. He enjoyed restoring antique cars, growing black berries and playing guitar. Most of all he loved the time he spent surrounded by his family and friends. Surviving to honor his memory are his loving wife, Phyllis Hall of the home; sons, Jimmy Hall (Sherry) of Murphy, North Carolina, Teddy J. Hall (Gail) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Regina Walters (Charles) of Greer, South Carolina; grandchildren, Christina Brusuelas (Louie), Vanessa Himsey (Jason), Nathan Hall (Barbie), Janae Musselman (Jordan), T.J. Hall (Heather), Daniel Hall, Amber Ho (Toy), Tiffany Cossey (Joshua); twenty seven great grandchildren; siblings, Levi Hall (Mildred) Peoria, Illinois, Jewel Vandiver Eaglesville, Tennessee, Joyce Hall Marfuta (Mike) of Sparta, Tennessee and Betty Grubb (Steve) of Lakeland, Florida. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Gracie Hall. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 from 9am-12pm at David W Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas and from 1pm-2pm prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lewark Church of God in Coffeyville. Pastor Darren Brown and Rev. Charles Walters will officiate. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery north of Coffeyville following the service. The family suggests memorials can be made to the Lewark Church of God; contributions can be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W Barnes Funeral Home 306 N Cline Rd Coffeyville, KS 67337.
