Rachel Elizabeth Dennis, 23, of Coffeyville, who had been missing since March 2, 2007, was found Tuesday (March 13, 2007) near Brown Ford Bridge north of Coffeyville.
Rachel was born February 26, 1984 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Barry and Patricia (Hurley) Dennis. She grew up in Independence, attending school at Independence, and Tyro before moving to Phoenix, Arizona with her mother and sister where she graduated from Desert Vista High School. Rachel returned to Coffeyville four years ago to attend classes at Rogers State University in Claremore, OK.
She had attended the Assembly of God in Independence while living there.
Survivors include her infant son, Tegan Dennis of Coffeyville; her mother, Patricia Dennis of Phoenix, AZ; her father and step-mother, Barry and Lori Dennis of Coffeyville; one sister, Rebecca Dennis of Phoenix, AZ; two brothers, Dylon Dennis and Dakota Dennis both of Coffeyville; and her maternal grandmother, Sadie Hurley of Salisbury, Maryland.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday (March 20, 2007) in the Central Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Dan Strange and Rev. David Warren officiating.
Friends may sign the register book on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to a fund established for Rachel's son, Tegan Dennis; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
