Carlos Don Hohler, 80, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Medicalodge in Coffeyville, with his daughter Cora at his side. Don was born on November 17, 1940 in Waurika, Oklahoma. He was raised by his father, Carl F. Hohler and by his paternal grandmother, Cora Alice Hohler. He grew up in Meade and Garden City, Kansas where he attended school and earned his high school diploma. Don served in the U.S. Army in the Med Corps and Reserves from 1960 until 1966. He also retired from the Army National Guard. While living in Coffeyville, Kansas he worked most of his life for local foundries. On June 14, 1964 he was united in marriage to Barbara S. Neese. Of that union four children were born, Eric, Cora, Michael and Carl. The couple later divorced. On December 3, 1977 he married Sheryl Ann Gulick in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made Coffeyville their home. They had a daughter, Donita. Sheryl preceded him in death on July 23, 2020. Don enjoyed wood working and was an N-Gauge Train collector. He enjoyed attending church with his daughter Cora in Fredonia at the Grace First Assembly of God. Most of all he loved the time he spent surrounded by his family and friends. Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Eric D. Hohler and wife, Nancy of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Cora M. Hohler of Fredonia, Kansas, Michael R. Hohler and wife, Jennifer of Joplin, Missouri, Carl G. Hohler and wife, Renee of Helena, Alabama, Donita Marie Hohler of Wichita, Kansas; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl F. Hohler; grandmother, Cora A. Hohler and wife, Sheryl Hohler. Following Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. No public services are scheduled. The family will have a private gathering at a later date.
