Connie Sue Hopkines, 67, of Independence formerly of rural Coffeyville passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020 at her home. She was born on February 25, 1953 in Glendale, California to Harry and Betty J. (Bradley) Willoughby. Connie grew up and attended school in Parmount, California, she later moved to Oklahoma before moving to Coffeyville. On February 15, 1993 she married James "Jim" Hopkins at their home in rural Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home north of Coffeyville until moving to Independence when Highway 169 was made into 4 lane. Connie enjoyed watching TV game shows and soap operas but her greatest pleasure was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Jim Hopkins of the home; two sons, Jonathan Whitaker of Luther, Oklahoma and Matthew Whitaker of Oklahoma; one brother, Bob Willoughby of Chino, California; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 17th at the Veterans Memorial Patio in Fairview Cemetery. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park Friends may call on Wednesday, December 16th from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
