Obituary of Helen Louise Lattin

Helen Louise Lattin, 85, of Dearing, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at her home surrounded by family. Helen was born December 7, 1935 to Joe and Goldie (Swindell) DeWilde. She grew up in St. George, Kansas where she graduated high school. On May 28, 1955 she was united in marriage to Louis Lattin at her parents' house in St. George. They lived in Coffeyville, Dearing, Fredonia, and Yates Center. They returned to Dearing in 1969 and have remained there ever since. Helen worked for Dearing Elementary School. She enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, playing cards, dancing, cooking, and canning. She was active in the PTA and served as a leader in the local 4-H Club. For many years, she and Louis enjoyed attending the "55 and better" dance. Surviving family members include her husband Louis of the home; children Debra Reilly (Phil) of Cherryvale, Kansas; Robert Lattin (Cheryl) of Independence, Kansas; and Terri Jo Johnson of Spring Hill, Kansas; seven grand-children; and four great grand-children. She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 10AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cherryvale, Kansas. Father Zachery Pinaire will officiate. Interment will follow at the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Cherryvale. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM on Tuesday, December 29th at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM that evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or Alzheimer's Association and may be left with or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
