Obituary of Dale Duane Kennedy

Dale Duane Kennedy, age 70, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at CRMC. Dale was born on July 4, 1950 in Jackson County, Missouri to Duanne O. and Leila B. (Tracy) Kennedy. He grew up in Wyandotte County in Kansas City where he graduated high school in 1968. Dale furthered his education at Pittsburg State University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry. He made a career as a chemist working for Aptus, Clean Harbors, CVR and Cessna throughout the years. On November 28, 1981 he married the love of his life, Tonya E. Olmstead at the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. The couple made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their three boys, Andrew, Thomas and Daniel. Tonya preceded him in death on February 29, 2004. Dale enjoyed reading spy novels and military fiction, especially books by author Tom Clancy. Most of all he loved the time he spent surrounded by his family and friends; especially being with his grandkids. Surviving to honor his memory are his sons, Andrew Kennedy of Coffeyville, Kansas, Thomas Kennedy and wife, Shaina of Oologah, Oklahoma, Daniel Kennedy of St. Petersburg, Florida; grandchildren, Brendon, Olivia and Bella Kennedy of Oologah, Oklahoma; brother, Alan Kennedy of Collinsville, Oklahoma; sister, Karen Kennedy of Pflugerville, Texas; longtime friends and neighbors, Steve and Kathy Summers of Coffeyville, Kansas. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Duanne and Leila Kennedy and by his loving wife, Tonya Kennedy. A private family graveside service will be held at the Argonia Cemetery in Argonia, Kansas. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 4550 Montgomery Ave. Suite 1100 N Bethesda, MD 20814; contributions can also be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W Barnes Funeral Home 306 N Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
