Obituary of Wanda Mae Hemman

Wanda Mae Hemman, age 82, formerly of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Cherryvale Nursing Home in Cherryvale, Kansas. Wanda was born on March 21, 1938 in Kaw City, Oklahoma to Raymond and Clara (Stransky) McCart. She attended school in Red Rock, Oklahoma where she graduated high school in 1957. That same year Wanda moved to Coffeyville, Kansas where she made her home. On September 27, 1958 she married the love of her life, Milton Hemman at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Coffeyville. Milton preceded her in death in 2000. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Coffeyville. Her hobbies included playing bingo, going to the senior dances with friends, spending time with family and especially enjoyed the time she spent surrounded by her grandchildren. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Teresa Powell and husband, Kris of Coffeyville, Kansas; granddaughter, April Hargis and husband, Chris of Topeka, Kansas and their daughters, Alyvia and Leah; grandson, Matt Powell and wife, Shelby of Independence, Kansas and their children, Braxten and Kandace; a brother, Richard McCart and wife, Mary Ann of Haysville, Kansas. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Clara McCart; loving husband, Milton Hemman and by a sister, Norma Woods. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Chaplain Keith Springer will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at David W Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. Family will greet friends on Monday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W Barnes Funeral Home 306 N Cline Rd.
