Alexander "Alex" Jaimez, age 89, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 in Independence, Kansas. Alex was born on March 14, 1931 in Alma, Kansas to Eufricio and Rosa (Galvan) Jaimez. Throughout his life he worked in the sanitation department for the City of Lawrence in Kansas and also worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. In October of 1950 he married Mary Louise Rodriguez in Lawrence, Kansas. The couple moved to Coffeyville in 1969 where they made their home. Alex was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville. He made Rosary Beads and bird houses. He also loved going to rummage sales, thrift stores and shopping for antiques. He especially loved exploring at the Country Time Antiques Mall. Surviving to honor his memory are his children, Kathy Howard of Aurora, Colorado, Susan (Mike) Bradley, David (Brenda) Jaimez, Rebecca Harrah, Donna (Fred) Brooks all of Coffeyville, Kansas, Diane (Randy) Yeubanks of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Debby (Tony) Lawson, Annette (Cory) Hendryx, Anthony "Tony" Jaimez also all of Coffeyville, Kansas and Annie (Tony) Jones, Independence, Kansas; his ex-wife and friend, Louise Jaimez of Coffeyville, Kansas numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Georgia Broadwell of Coffeyville, Kansas along with several other close relatives and friends. Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Eufricio and Rosa Jaimez; sons, Nick, Paul, Benjamin, Timothy and Alexander "Steve" Jaimez. A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2021 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday January 16, 2021at Holy Name Catholic Church. Father Daniel Lorimer will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville. Friends may sign the guest register Friday, January 15, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. Due to current health concerns everyone will be required to practice social distancing and wear a face mask.
