Marilyn J. Tate, age 82, formerly of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Marilyn was born on January 5, 1939 in Omaha, Nebraska to Milo Placek and Iola Marten. She was then adopted and raised by her parents, Elmer and Helen (Migala) VonBusch. She grew up in Aberdeen, South Dakota where she went to school and graduated from Aberdeen High School. Marilyn was united in marriage to David A. Tate. Of that union three children were born, David, Linda and Lori. The couple later divorced. She worked for Wal-Mart for many years as the Assistant Store Manager until her retirement in 1994. While living in Coffeyville she was a member of the First Baptist Church. When she moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma she was a member of NewPoint Church. She enjoyed fishing, painting, gardening and loved spending time with her family. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, David A. Tate II of Topeka, Kansas, Linda Ann Tate of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Lori Ann Fisher of Coffeyville, Kansas; grandchildren, Stephanie (Billy) Moore of Houston, Texas, Tiffanie (Joe) LeClair of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Brittanie Graham of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Courtney Nolte of Owasso, Oklahoma, Haley (Keith LaFont) Bolte of Beatrice, Nebraska; sixteen great grandchildren; her sisters, Ruth Ann Dohe of Schiller Park, Illinois; Loretta Reckling of Arizona and Mary Hessheimer of Nebraska along with several other close relatives and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her biological parents, Milo Placek and Iola Marten; adoptive parents, Elmer and Helen (Migala) VonBusch; great grandson, Jace LeClair and a brother, Lonnie Placek. Following Marilyn's wishes, cremation will take place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later time.
