Deanna Sue Carpenter, age 72, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Windsor Place Nursing Home in Coffeyville. Sue was born on May 8, 1948 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Albert and Alice (Pike) Kenworthy. She grew up in Coffeyville where she graduated from Field Kindley High School and attended Coffeyville Community College. On September 23, 1967 she married the love of her life, Duane Carpenter in rural Coffeyville, Kansas at the Central Baptist Church. The couple made Coffeyville their home where they raised their children. In addition to taking care of her home and family, Sue worked many years in Coffeyville as a bank teller. She began at what was originally First National Bank that went through several name changes, then went to work for Condon Bank and Trust until her retirement. Sue enjoyed the many people she met and looked forward to the familiar faces that would come to her teller window. You could often find her at the Condon Motor Bank located at 8th and Beech with her warm and friendly smile. Sue was a member of Grace Fellowship Church. Some of her hobbies included bowling, shopping, traveling; and for a time she traveled all around taking her kids to bowling tournaments. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and being with her grandchildren. Surviving to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Duane Carpenter of the home; children, David Carpenter and wife, Janie of Del City, Oklahoma, Alan Carpenter and wife, Mara of Branson, Missouri; Lisa Romines and husband, Jason of Coffeyville, Kansas; grandchildren, Julie Carpenter, Lane Carpenter, Dustie Carpenter, Katie Carpenter, Nicole Romines, Dylan Romines, Ethan Romines; five great grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way; brother, Albert Kenworthy and wife, Noma of Casa Grande, Arizona; sister, Katherine Ames of Buford, Georgia. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Alice Kenworthy; brother, William “Bill” Vencil; sisters, Georgia Canada and Edith Scott. Following Sue’s wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will hold a Memorial Service at Grace Fellowship in Coffeyville, Kansas on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Doug Mund officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to Grace Fellowship or to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; contributions can be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W Barnes Funeral Home 306 N.
