Vergie Lorraine Lutz, 98, of Coffeyville passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. She was born on September 15, 1922 in Galesburg, Kansas to Charles J. and Vergie Mae (Madison) Dougherty. Lorraine grew up in the Galesburg area where she attended Shiloh School and completed her education at Thayer High School in Thayer, Kansas. Lorraine married Lloyd Coons he preceded her death. She later married Clifford Lutz and he preceded her in death. Lorraine worked as a waitress and owned a Café for several years. She lived in western Kansas, Wichita and Columbus before moving to Coffeyville to be closer to her sister. She attended the Christian Church. Survivors include one step-daughter, Ruthie Lutz of Missoula, Montana; and one sister, Norma Allen DeTar and husband, Don of Coffeyville. She was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, and three brothers, Albert Dougherty, Norman Dougherty and Raymond Dougherty. Following Lorraine's wishes cremation has taken place under the direction of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. A Graveside Memorial Service and Inurnment will take place at a later date in the South Center Cemetery near Morehead, Kansas.
