Geraldine A. "Jerrie" Bernal, 82, of Coffeyville passed away Friday, February 26, 2021 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She was born on May 20, 1938 in Vallejo, California to Malcolm and Anna (Anthony) McLeod. Jerrie grew up and attended school in California graduating from high school at Hemet, California. Jerrie married Billy Dean Watkins in 1954 in California. They had three children, Jacquelyn, Becky and Billy Wayne. In 1967 they moved to Coffeyville. Mr. Watkins preceded her in death in 1982. On January 12, 1984 she married Ralph Bernal at Miami, Oklahoma. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. They had one daughter, Angelina. Jerrie worked for several years as a Teller at Community State Bank in Coffeyville. She was an active member of Westside Christian Church in Coffeyville. Jerrie enjoyed reading and loved spending time surrounded by her family. Survivors include her husband, Ralph Bernal of the home; her daughters, Jacquelyn Coble and husband, Gary of Las Vegas, Nevada, Becky Padilla and husband, Frank of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Angelina Vaughters, and husband, Derek of Mound Valley, Kansas; step-daughter, Leona Trotnic and husband, Brett of Oswego, Kansas; step-son, Christopher Bernal of Oswego, Kansas; three grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy Dean Watkins; one son, Billy Wayne Watkins; and one brother, William McLeod. A Memorial Service celebrating Jerrie's life was held on Tuesday, March 2nd at the Westside Christian Church in Coffeyville with Pastor Mike Elrod officiating. Following Jerrie's wishes cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home.
