Obituary of Alta Mae Nolte

Alta Mae Nolte, age 89, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Windsor Place Nursing Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. Mae was born on October 20, 1931 in Welch, Oklahoma to Earl and Daisy Riley. She grew up in Welch where she attended school. In 1947 she moved with her family to Coffeyville, Kansas. At a popular local restaurant, The Pig Stand, she met her future husband, Walter J. Nolte. The couple married on May 17, 1949 in Coffeyville. The couple made their forever home in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma where they managed their family farm and raised their children. In addition to helping with the farming, taking care of the house and kids, Mae worked a few different jobs throughout the years that included Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, Wal-Mart and Jencast. Mae and Walt were members of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Coffeyville. She was very active in the church and volunteered for many things. She was a member of Grange when she was younger. What she loved most of all was the time she spent surrounded by her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Millard Nolte and wife, Ali, Mark Nolte and wife, Mary, Marlon Nolte and wife, Nicole all of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; daughters, Clementine Henning and husband, Mike of Springfield, Missouri, Roxie Wyrick and Alta Nolte both of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; brother, Dan Riley of Grand Lake, Oklahoma; twin sisters, Martha Shufeldt and Marie Voltz both of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Daisy Riley; loving husband Walter Nolte on June 1, 2012; a great-granddaughter; seven brothers and one sister. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Son-in-law Mike Henning will officiate. Friends may call on Friday, March 26, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at David W Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville to sign the guest register. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
