Obituary of Betty Jane Wilson

Betty Jane Wilson, age 88, formerly of Caney, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at her home in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Betty was born on October 2, 1932 in Canton, Kansas to Cole and Laura (Pippin) White. She began her schooling south of Peru, Kansas where she attended El Cado rural school and completed her education at Peru High School. On February 6, 1954 she married the love of her life, Willie R. Wilson in Caney, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 24, 2001. The couple made their home in Caney. Kansas where they raised their family. Betty owned and ran the Wilson Care Home in Caney for over 31 years. Betty was a member of Grace Fellowship in Coffeyville, Kansas. She was also an active member of the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. Her main hobbies included ceramics, cooking, baking banana bread, sewing and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. ' Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Kay Littlepage of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Rick Wilson and wife, Cheryl of Caney, Kansas; five grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Cole and Laura White; loving husband, Willie Wilson; granddaughter, Kelsey Littlepage; brothers, Pete and Paul White; sisters, Yvonne and Pauline Bartley. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney, Kansas. Pastor Doug Mund will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at David W Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion Auxiliary or to Grace Fellowship; contributions can be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W Barnes Funeral Home 306 N Cline Rd.
