Obituary of Johnnie R. Caresio

Johnnie R. Caresio, age 84, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
Johnnie was born on July 27, 1936 in Cherokee, Kansas to John and Rosalie (Indahar) Caresio. He attended school in Cherokee until age ten; the family then moved to Coffeyville where he went to school at Holy Name Catholic School and Field Kindley Memorial High School where he graduated.
Johnnie proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After receiving his honorable discharge he returned home and together with his father and uncle owned and operated Caresio Brothers Beverage Distribution.
On June 17, 1961 he married the love of his life, Helen White in Coffeyville, Kansas. The couple made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their children. Helen preceded him in death on February 2, 2009.
Johnnie was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Coffeyville V.F.W. Post 1022 and Coffeyville American Legion Post 20. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and woodworking. Most of all he loved the time he spent surrounded by his family.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, John Caresio of Wichita, Kansas, Pete Caresio of Coffeyville, Kansas, Joni Giesen and husband, Rich of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; sister, Dorothy Long and husband Charlie of Queen Creek, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosalie Caresio; loving wife, Helen Caresio and a sister, Joan Wells.
The Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville prior to the funeral service.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Daniel Lorimer officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville.
In honor of Johnnie the family encourages everybody to wear pink or bright colors in true Johnnie fashion.
Friends may call on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will greet friends Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to Holy Name Catholic School; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
