Obituary of Dean Ellis DeRaad

Dean Ellis DeRaad, 88, of Coffeyville passed away, Monday, April 26, 2021 at his home. He was born on July 13, 1932 at Seney Iowa to Alfred Victor and Virla Elizabeth (Cook) DeRaad. Dean grew up and attended grade school in Seney, Iowa, and graduated from Union Consolidated High School in LeMars, Iowa in 1951. He entered the U.S. Army in July 1957 and was honorably discharged in July 1963. On November 11, 1959 he married Peggy Lou Trask. Following their marriage they made their home in the Coffeyville, Kansas area. Dean worked at Hoseney's Dressed Beef and at a Grocery Store as a Meat Market Manager for 25 years. He also worked for Jencast Foundry for five years when he retired. After retiring he worked at Wal-Mart for two years and later at Green Thumb. Survivors include one son, Lonnie DeRaad and wife, Bonnie of Dearing, Kansas; two daughters, Deborah Hastler and Pattie Jo Blanchard both of Sioux City, Iowa; one granddaughter, Amanda Long and husband Rickie, two great-grandchildren, Bryce Long and Emily Long all of Coffeyville and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Peggy; and one son Steven DeRaad. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at the Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. Friends may call on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
